Seneca County National Night Out
August 2 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Mark your calendar for August 2nd 5:00-7:30 for the return of the Seneca County National Night Out Celebration!! Besides enjoying the free, family-fun of kickball, water-balloon toss, and bouncy houses, families and community members are welcome to come to meet members of each of our five local law enforcement personnel (Waterloo PD, Seneca Falls PD, Seneca County Sheriff, NYS Troopers and NYS Park Police), see different operational components (4-wheelers, drones, K-9, cars), and watch the NYS Trooper Seat Belt Convincer demonstration.
COVID canceled the event in 2020, and last year an electronic version was provided to the youth of Seneca County in an effort to be safe and respectful of everyone’s safety. The Seneca Falls Rotary will be providing free dinner to all who attend, and RTS (local bus service) will be providing free transportation from identified Ovid, Romulus and Varick pick-up locations to help families conserve gas money. The event is free and open to the public, with donations and local police benevolent associations funding the event. Anyone interested in making a donation to the event, volunteering or being a part of the event, or having any questions should contact Karen at the United Way of Seneca County Office at 315.539.1135 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
National Night Out, held annually on the first Tuesday in August, enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides an excellent opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. The committee is thrilled to be back in person this year, knowing that uniting as a community provides social connections, a sense of belonging, friendship, and emotional support. Events like these open new perspectives, and community involvement enriches the lives of everyone when obstacles come their way.
