Learn about the “Shaker Seeds Business” on May 26
May 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
A program on “Shaker Seeds Business” will be presented by the Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Geneva History Museum, 543 S. Main Street, Geneva. The meeting is free and open to the public and can also be attended though Zoom in association with Historic Geneva.
The program by Denise Richter will focus primarily on the Shaker seed business in Shaker settlements near Albany, New York and nearby Massachusetts. The Shakers were a Christian sect that originated in England. In the 18th and 19th centuries, they established communities in upstate New York and New England, gradually spreading to the Mid-West.
Denise Richter is a past president of the Early American Industries Association, a worldwide organization with over 1800 members. Denise is also an antiques dealer with a special interest in woodworking tools and the Civil War. She especially enjoys researching obscure topics through historical societies and archives, and she is a regular volunteer at the Gettysburg National Military Park.

Registrations should be made by 5:00 pm on May 25, the day before the program. For any problems with registration or to register by phone, call the Historic Geneva office at 315-789-5151.
